Waste Battery and Take Back Regulations

The waste batteries directive sets out clear guidelines for the collection, treatment and recycling of waste industrial, automotive and portable batteries. All batteries are required to be labelled with the appropriate battery label. The regulations have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using the best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection.

If the crossed out wheeled bin symbol (pictured right) is located on the product, it means that it is covered by these battery regulations.

Under these regulations, UK Electrical Supplies offer a take back scheme for waste portable batteries. They can be returned to us in person at 5a Windmill Road, Hampton Hill, Middlesex, TW12 1RF.

Many supermarkets and shops that sell batteries have collection points for used batteries, as do some town halls, libraries and schools. You may find one of these collection points in your local area more convenient.
